As writers, we start with the feeling and everything follows from that.
We are always worried about being satisfied. When you become satisfied, it's sort of like you just die.
There is a tension in that music that you can feel. It just feels like there's this place where, you know, my soul rests and these guys were expressing it.
I got really into drumming, playing along with the records. Those rhythms got into me early. 100% only caring about music and rhythm. I had a bedroom that was about 7 by 7 feet, really small. There was so much junk I had collected. I had two drum sets in there, a guitar amplifier and a reel-to-reel, and no bed. I took the bed out. I slept on a piece of foam on an angle by the door.

藝術(shù)家如果整天想著成大師,除非他真的有那個天分,否則要不就是狂妄的被大家恥笑之徒,要么就非得精神分裂不可。那種少年有成的大師真的是需要天賦和前期傳家寶加成的,雖然張愛玲是說出名要趁早的,但是如果你覺得沒有這個天賦,那就作一個后天的大師,在我看來是更大的成就,更值得我崇敬。
前幾天偶然在MOOC看了一場Course,一個電影音樂課老師的handout,覺得里面有一段關(guān)于搖滾音樂的文字有點意思,

I find this "documentary" to be dull. I had to fast forward to select the part where they really talk about their music.
Let me make it short, Jimmy page might have done way too many interviews, I totally understand, I mean if I were him, I would have run out of things to say, or just simply hate to repeat things I have told millions of times.
and I am not very into Jack White. I find his music too raw and moody. It's just me. But Tom Waits is raw and moody, but he makes a lot sense to me. Jack white definitely experiments with many ways to play a guitar, but that's nothing new, I think he just does it wrong.
The edge, on the other hand, is pretty amazing, The edge is underrated, his guitar playing is quite simple but amazing. He doesn't "borrow" from anyone else, but create a whole new way to playing.I like the way he always puts on this big smile to others.

滾石雜志在2003年評出的百大吉他手,現(xiàn)年66歲的Jimmy Page排行第九,49歲的The Edge位列第二十四,最年輕的只有35歲的Jack White竟高居第十七。當然,排名更靠前的B. B. King、Eric Clapton甚至和電影關(guān)系更密切的Ry Cooder(《德州巴黎》、《藍莓之夜》都是耳熟能詳?shù)拿郑┒歼€健在,當有西方媒體問導(dǎo)演Davis Guggenheim為什么偏偏挑選這三個年齡不同風格迥異但都還很帥的吉他手時,拋出了一句“我也想找Jimmy Hendrix啊”。
是啊如果這三個人是Jimmy Page、Keith Richards和David Gilmour就成了“歲寒三友”,如果是The Edge、Kirk Hammett(Metallica那位)、Eddie Van Halen就成了“三槍拍案”,而如果是Jack White、Jonny Greenwood(收音機頭色盲)、John Frusciante(前一陣宣布退隊的紅辣椒悍將)也許會成為“三國殺”。但就像圈錢的縱貫線加進一個張震岳才算神來之筆,《It Might Get Loud》拿Jimmy Page、The Edge和Jack White糅合到一起還真是一團和氣。京奧閉幕式上的倫敦8分鐘讓普羅百姓也見識了Jimmy Page…
10幾年的五道口,地鐵的旁邊原來是一個大的菜市場,幾個廣東人拿著卡口磁帶,Led Zeppelin的磁帶就像土豆一樣放在麻袋里面,2塊錢!挑出來,面帶稚嫩的小店主三下五除二就把斷掉的磁帶接上。那時候的娛樂少得可憐,這一盤磁帶可以給我?guī)硪粋€學期歡樂,不知道這樣的聲音是如何來的,陌生卻震撼。轉(zhuǎn)過街角,商店里,長發(fā)的店主,拿出一樣的磁帶,擦得很干凈,振振有詞告訴我,這是Heavy Metal的鼻祖,值!40塊!那個時候便知藝術(shù)的價值正比欣賞者的喜愛程度。
猜想導(dǎo)演選了他們?nèi)耸且驗樗麄兪侨N不同的風格,來自三個不同的時代。他們又是相同的,70年代的英格蘭,罷工、償還美國巨額戰(zhàn)后債務(wù),經(jīng)濟一蹶不振,都柏林也是一片蕭條,Jack成長在臟亂的墨西哥人街區(qū),他們都需要快樂,需要表達,認真的表達。也許搖滾需要壓抑的現(xiàn)實作為土壤。充滿激情的年輕人在簡陋的音樂室演出了一首首至今傳唱的曲子。
