At a fashion dinner in Hong Kong, a naval officer was tricked into revealing the details of a dream in which eight people took off from Bangkok to Tokyo and crashed in the mountains of Japan. One of the listeners is Air Force Marshal Hardy, who will fly to Tokyo the next day. Hardy initially gave up this dream because he planned to leave by the Liberator plane, but when Hardy arrived at the airport, he found that the Liberator had a mechanical problem and was replaced by the Dakota. Just before the flight was about to take off, two soldiers boarded the plane, with a number of eight. Hardy worried that his dream might come true and he was doomed to die.
