The forthright Type A Joy Miles had to take an unplanned road trip to drive her forgetful but opinionated mother-in-law Loraine from Louisville, Kentucky, to Savannah, Georgia. Despite being impatient and frustrated at first, Joy began to realize her true love for Loraine because she had a positive view on how this determined but free spirited woman managed the emotional transformation of her learning life after losing her spouse. Although they have many differences and always have relaxed and enjoyable adventures, they find themselves respecting and even needing each other.
