A movie set in a small village in Poland in the 1960s, telling the story of a young girl's awakened sexual desire. Marla, about 13 years old, lives with her unmarried mother and has a boyfriend who is the same age as her. The arrival of the gypsies plunged the village into chaos, and they camped in the fields. Gypsies are excluded and cursed as "devils" by conservative villagers. Mara is attracted to the gypsies. But the locals attacked their camp with fire hoses, and the gypsies continued to move forward
