It is in this criminal environment that directors Adil Al Arabi and Bilal Farah set a heart pounding contemporary Shakespearean tragedy for 'Black'. When Mavela (played by Martha Canga Antonio), a teenage girl with connections to the Brussels Black Bronx gang, meets Marwan (played by Aboubakr Bensaihi) at the police station, the world collides. Marwan is a member of a rival Moroccan gang. They are acutely aware of the consequences of interacting with people from another gang. At first, they may resist each other's attraction, but they can only resist for so long.
