In a series of simple and joyful interludes, director Roberto Rossellini and co writer Federico Fellini affectionately convey the universal teachings of the people's saints: humility, compassion, faith, and sacrifice. "The Flowers of St. Francis" is an eternal and moving portrait in search of spiritual enlightenment. It is beautifully photographed, reminiscent of medieval paintings from various times of St. Francis, and was forged with the monks of the Nocera Inferior Monastery.
