Beauty champion Patricia Knight's first competition for a screen star was Columbia University's "Shock proof.". Knight plays Jenny Wright, a convicted murderer who is paroled by probation officer Griff Malat (Cornell Wilde). It started as a cold professional relationship and eventually developed into romance. The only drawback is the dark Harry Wesson (played by John Baragrey), a gambler who lures Jenny to commit murder. The girl was torn between the material comforts Wilson gave her and the promise Griff gave her of a clean life. Douglas Thurk's early work included stylistic elements that set his later works apart. The script was written by renowned director Samuel Fuller, known for his tenacious realism and ruthless style, Hal Erickson, all film guides
