Deadliest Catch is a documentary/reality TV series produced by Original Productions for the Discovery Channel. It depicts real life events on Bering Sea fishing boats during the Alaskan king crab and C. opilio crab fishing season. The Aleutian Islands port at Unalaska Holland Port in Alaska is the operational base for fishing fleets. The name of the program comes from the inherent high risk of injury associated with the work. Deadly Fishing "premiered on Discovery Channel on April 12, 2005 and is currently broadcast in over 150 countries. The first season consists of ten episodes, and the ending was aired on June 14, 2005. Since the first season in 2005, subsequent seasons have been aired annually from April to June or July. The eighth season premiered on April 10, 2012 at 9pm Eastern Time/Pacific Time. This season was recorded during the previous autumn (Emperor Crab) and winter (C.opilio) crab seasons.
