The star cast led by Ian McDiarmid and Ian Glenn vividly presents the story of the first 'police' brothers, the Fielding brothers, in 'Sin City', a large-scale new historical drama set against the backdrop of the crime ridden world of Georgian era London. According to the original sources, this six part film series is set against the backdrop of Covent Garden in the 18th century, which was the secondary trading center of London. It tells the fate of the brothers Henry and John Fielding, the London magistrate, and the people who created the modern police force. Henry Fielding (known as the father of British novels) and John Fielding (his half blind brother) were the first true "police" in London - investigating the lives and crimes of prostitutes, pimps, gamblers, and villains (all carefully studied real characters) who operated in a world where policing rules had not yet been invented. During the process of developing "procedures," the Fielding couple invented many of today's standard policing systems, including hearing witness statements and creating organized informant systems. With the evolution of the capital police force, 'Sin City' reveals the dark side of 18th century London life. Starring also include Geraldine James, Nigel Harman, Juliette Aubrey, and Francis Magee.
