The movie begins with the mysterious death of a news photographer named Kim Cheol hoon. Senior detective Park (played by Kim Seung ho) collaborates with a young intellectual detective (played by Kim Sung woo) to investigate the people around Kim. His landlord, mother, and sister did not provide any substantial clues. After discovering a letter from novelist Han Zhengwu to Jin, the detectives met with Han, who told them about a novel written by Jin called "The General's Wild Horse". This novel tells the story of a great general who liberated his country. People grow beards like generals to show respect for him, but the protagonist refuses to do so and becomes an abandoned person. After talking to Han, the detectives did not find anything suspicious. Instead, they went to find Sin hye (played by Yoon Chung hee), a former dancer who used to live with Kim, to learn about the details of his life. According to Sin hye, Jin is a romantic, but he cannot adapt to reality. Xin Hui fell in love with his romantic feelings, but in the end she grew tired of him and left him. Not long after, Jin passed away. The police determined that his death was a suicide.
