In 2004, football coach Bill Courtney took on a challenging coaching job at Manassas High School in downtown Memphis, where players were more likely to end up in prison than going to college. The Manassas Tigers are perennial scapegoats in the league, losing victory, funding, and morale. Courtney recruited a group of newcomers to turn the tide, and in their first season, they achieved success. But as time passed, they won more matches and more respect. At the beginning of the 2009 season, Courtney set a goal: to win the first playoff in the school's 110 year history.
