When the body of a truck driver was found trampled on in his truck, exhausted detective Dwight Faraday was assigned to handle this bizarre case. He and police officer Jacob Reed arrived at the crime scene in the parking lot, and their investigation showed that the victim left a tavern with a beautiful woman, apparently trampled on by a heavy animal in the truck carriage. Later, two other male corpses arrived at the morgue under the same circumstances, and coroner Dana noticed that they had both become erect at the moment of death. Dwight noticed hooves inside the bodies. Dana further investigated and found deer footprints and hair in the body. When Dwight and Reed were talking to an Indian descendant in a casino, they unraveled a Pokhan legend, telling the story of a deer woman, half a woman, but with deer hooves, who seduced men and trampled on them. Without any other clues, they began to believe that every legend was based on facts.
