Those who feel this is a slighted film than other Jarmusch didn't get the point: this movie is about the intimacy of one's belief system, private, eccentric, but all the more touching for that. Here one Afro-American man picked up the "Way of Samurai", totally alien to his ethnic and cultural background, and made it the bedrock of his whole existence.
To me, the movie is about the inevitably arbitrary nature of any conviction, and the remarkable strength of it, however outlandish it may be. If one really wishes to believe in something, then against all odds, it will become part of you, even when it becomes very, very, inconvenient; even fatally inconvenient.

很顯然，，Jim Jarmusch想通過這部作品，在所謂藝術(shù)電影和商業(yè)電影之間做一次平衡，但是，很遺憾，他這次搞砸了。
問題主要出在Jim Jarmusch對于日本文化其實是懵懵懂懂的理解上，隨后，他就是通過這樣的理解，又以那種讓西方人如墜五里霧中，讓東方人感覺不倫不類的形式表達出來，結(jié)果當然不會好。（說真的，在這一點上，他真該學學另一名美國導演，那個自稱痞子，其實還是蠻有文化的Quentin Tarantino）。

第一部我看的jarmusch的電影,以后我就喜歡這個有歐洲氣質(zhì)的美國人了:從頭到尾如小說章節(jié)般的敘事風格;日本武士道精神以及RZA自始至終的hip hop貫穿其中;結(jié)尾是我特別喜歡的，遵循電影中表現(xiàn)的武士道精神的結(jié)局簡直是這部片子的最出色之筆，也是非常感人的．我個人認為這是jarmusch電影的少有的牽動人心之情節(jié)與他平時作品中的平淡大相徑庭．
令我驚訝的是jarmusch這樣一個白人導演卻象黑人這樣喜歡武士道（或是功夫）拍出這樣一部或許只有黑人喜愛的電影，不能不說突顯了他的與眾不同．所以出于對hip hop題材的關(guān)注我看了它，但確實好的出乎我的預(yù)料．whitaker的表演也很出色，好象他一直也是叫好不叫坐的演員，有才華可卻不怎么出名，以后的電話亭還有和jude forest的那部（名字我忘了）都以配角現(xiàn)身．．．影響深的還有那個說法語的黑人以及出現(xiàn)就一次的rza特別是那個黑道混混，casting也可以說都啟用沒什么名氣的演員但我覺得效果是很不錯的．
RZA操刀的ost也是我喜歡的，先聽ost后才看的電影，都是上乘之作?。扑]！??！

At the beginning of my watching ,i was almost totally to be made to think that this movie is produced by Quentin Tarantino.It's so obviously similar to sinister-gang's style productions of Mr.Tarantino.
Sinister gang + copious lins + disordered clues +orient cultural element=philosophic meditation
All these important elements consist a fantastic particualr story and an independent role who sticks to his illusion and his conviction.A weak power resists the world-wild's change.That's the dignity of the man's persisting object.Our killer accomplished his a series of cruel and revenge massacre and creat a touching ending for obtaining his dignity.Actually it's not a dramtical story neither a rare one.we can find much inspiration from the other movies like Léon.But it's particular because of its mixture of the occident back groud and the orient spirit.

年輕黑人殺手，對白人老黑幫。故事節(jié)奏舒緩，殺人倒是干凈利落。
有看頭的殺手電影，除了飛車追逐，爆炸，彈殼橫飛、血漿遍撒的老套路之外，本片提供了饒有趣味的另一番視覺元素：鴿子傳信，下水道殺人，冰淇淋車，還有顫顫巍巍的老黑幫份子，叛逆太妹，決絕的殺手，最后的武士道與黑幫精神，黑人文化，白人種族歧視的流毒，娓娓道來。故事簡單，老黑幫抖擻精神，意圖干掉殺手，維護家族的榮譽，被秉持武士道的殺手全部干掉的故事。殺手最后死在他秉持的武士道精神中，以死殉道，他的老大也憑借這一次決斗

在細節(jié)被省略之后，這部片子是這樣在我眼前展開的：

看書自修武士道的殺手“鬼狗”殲滅對象后，揀走目擊少女的書本回家看。他再次殺人，剛好還是她坐在被害人身邊看卡通，于是叫殺手把書還給她。

晴朗的午后，鬼狗在公園吃冰時，同坐的黑人小女孩拿出各種兒童不宜的科幻、色情小說分享。有感于紐約婦女的閱讀品味比較奇怪，殺手便把武士道修煉指南借給她。

舊日的意大利黑幫老頭曾偶然救了鬼狗一命，從此鬼狗事之如師，聽他驅(qū)策四處暗殺。但對頭上門，要師父交出鬼狗抵命，師父也是忙不迭的出賣他。于是鬼狗一路殺上去，只留師父一條命。

鬼狗不通電話，只跟師父飛鴿傳書聯(lián)絡(luò)。鄰居老人在樓頂造船，雖無法運下地面出航，卻仍逐日揮汗修鑿。移民黑人嫌學英文太難，只說法文。

每個人各自盤據(jù)著唯有自己懂的難言執(zhí)拗。角色都熱愛閱讀，原因大概是人類完全沒有共通語言，只好安靜看書。

卡通化的殺戮，唯心的武士道訓誨，拼貼成嶄新的俠客詩篇。末路武士的自省，竟以和暗巷黑狗對視的鏡頭來表現(xiàn)，出人意料又直接銳利
