"Hate" is a 1994 documentary directed by Todd Phillips, which tells the life of punk rock musician GG Allin, who died from a heroin overdose in 1993. Allin is notorious for excessive behavior (drug use, alcohol abuse, physical violence), and his stage performances have turned into confrontational events, including indecent exposure (undressing and nude performances are one of Allin's most common rituals), defecation and fecal consumption on stage, physical attacks (against and by Allin), and obscene language. This documentary includes concert and rehearsal clips, as well as interviews with Allin, band members, friends, critics, and loyal fans. At the end of the movie, Allin discusses his early childhood in rural New Hampshire, as well as his father's attempts to encourage his family to help him commit mass suicide. This documentary continues his growth as a punk musician. His controversial performance scenes include a violent confrontation with the audience during a spoken performance at New York University, as well as scenes of Allin defecating, self harming, and attacking concert audiences at the East Village Rock Club in New York City. This documentary also includes scenes of Allin frolicking at parties (perhaps the most vivid content in the movie), as well as her appearance on the talk show of Geraldo Rivera. The video footage of his funeral and body is also included.
