Director's cut was a massive improvement over the theatrical release. A real shame that they lost so much of the story in abridged version. Eva Green was stunning in this, but I think the real dark horse that stole the show was the King of Jerusalem Edward Norton (impressive feat considering we never see his face; but that voice, gosh, so much love). I particularly loved his exchanges with Balian and Saladin.

The entire film was well-cast, from Liam Neeson, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis (Professor Lupin!), Kevin McKidd (Grey's Owen Hunt!), Brendan Gleeson, to Marton Csokas (can't believe he was the King of the Elves in Lord of the Rings; what a versatile actor!)--great onscreen chemistry all around.

The dialogue in this movie blew me away:

1177年冬，剛過不惑之年的薩拉丁躊躇滿志，他不僅正成為阿拉伯世界的領導者，而且開始向盤踞中東地區(qū)的歐洲十字軍勢力進軍。薩拉丁身后是浩浩蕩蕩2萬6千名阿拉伯戰(zhàn)士，其中既有埃及、努比亞的黑人輕騎，也能見到裝備精良的古拉姆重騎兵侍衛(wèi)。

歷史沒有如果，只有看我將怎么做。我很認同這句話。所以當聊天的時候如果某君又開始假如誰誰沒死那將會怎么怎么之類的話，實在頭疼。扶蘇、柴榮、松平廣忠這些人沒有早死，恕我直言，可能真的不會扭轉歷史的大方向。 這么多風流人物，唯二人我確實會想到如果他們沒有過早離開歷史會不會……一個是織田信長，一個便是這部電影中出現的鮑德溫四世。
