和《窈窕淑男》相比，同為1980年代的變裝喜劇的此片名氣小得多。其實(shí)兩部影片都很好看，喜劇性極強(qiáng)，難分伯仲。
兩部電影有一些共同點(diǎn)：都發(fā)生在演藝圈，主人公都走投無路，并且都通過變裝，走向人生巔峰。最后都選擇結(jié)束偽裝，做回真正的自己。第55屆奧斯卡金像獎(jiǎng)，兩部作品都獲得數(shù)項(xiàng)提名（《窈窕淑男》9項(xiàng)；《雌雄莫辨》6項(xiàng)），但都只獲得了一個(gè)不太重要的獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)（《窈窕淑男》給了最佳女配；《雌雄莫辨》是最佳歌曲）。
