After the relatively low box office revenue of 'Intolerance', D.W. Griffith will re-examine his epic film in three years, treating the two interlocking stories in the film as independent feature films and adding some new additional shots. The first of these two works is "The Fall of Babylon", which depicts the conflict between the Babylonian prince Belshazzar and Cyrus the Great of Persia.
